The Great Burbank Fire of 2007

Just when I was getting all ready to complain that nothing interesting ever happens to me...something happened. The hills behind my house are on fire.

Wow, that's pretty intense! Fire is freaky, especially when it's happening in front of you and not on a TV. It's so destructive, yet it's so QUIET.

A company I used to work at was located near a highway entrance ramp. One day, a truck carrying some kind of flammable substance burst into flames on the highway below the overpass. Flames wrapped around the overpass and flew a couple hundred feet into the air. You could probably see the flames from miles away and you could feel the heat for many blocks, but it was utterly and completely silent. I felt like I was standing in front of a raging, hot tornado and studying it without being hurt (there was also no air moving, which I found odd considering how fire affects air).

Strange stuff. Stay safe!
